LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Toyota Kentucky has taken a significant step toward its ambitious 2030 net-zero emissions goal with the opening of a massive 30-acre solar field at its Georgetown manufacturing facility.

The automaker cut the ribbon Friday morning on the solar installation, which generates 15 million kilowatt hours annually — enough electricity to power 1,400 average U.S. homes. The project represents a visible commitment to reducing the plant’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

“It is a win for our plant, a win for our community, and a win for our field,” said Ebonye Allen, Environmental Engineering Manager for Toyota North America.
