COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus is adding another professional team to its growing sports lineup. The United Football League (UFL) officially announced Thursday that the Columbus Aviators will be the league’s newest team, set to take the field at Historic Crew Stadium.

The venue will once again come to life with fans filling its 20,000 seats when the Aviators take the field next spring.

“It’s a great city. It’s growing,” said UFL owner Mike Repole.

Columbus has long been considered a sports town, and Repole said this move capitalizes on that momentum.

“You get another pro team here, spend 10 to 12 weeks in the market — gets the city excited, another weekend to do something,” Repole said. “It will only add momentum that Columbus has.”
