PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A home in Northeast Philadelphia partially collapsed following a fire Friday afternoon.
The blaze broke out just before 2 p.m. on the 9400 block of Kirkwood Road.
Chopper 6 was overhead as firefighters worked to bring the flames under control within an hour.
A 54-year-old man was rescued from the residence and taken to a nearby hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.
Deputy Fire Chief Michael Richey said crews reported hearing explosions while battling the fire.
"When we were here, while we were firefighting, we had some small explosions. What they are, we don't know. Sometimes it's common household items and stuff like that," Richey said.
No other injuries were reported.
