DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation after a single-vehicle crash in DeKalb County on Friday.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened near the 333-mile marker of northbound I-69 around 5:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver believed there was an exit in the area and attempted to take it, causing their vehicle to go off-road, where it struck a ditch about a quarter mile east of the highway.
The office says the driver was pinned by the steering wheel, and the driver’s door was facing the bottom of the ditch, which had about 2 feet of standing water.
When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they say they extricated the driver and moved them out of the ditch.
