(KRON) — An incoming storm is forecast to drop more than an inch of rain across the Bay Area and up to 2 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada between Monday and Wednesday.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the Bay Area will see 1.36 inches of rain from the storm. More rain is possible at higher elevations.

“It does look like everywhere will get over an inch of rainfall between Monday and Wednesday with locally higher totals of 2 to 3 inches in the higher terrain,” the NWS forecast discussion states. “As this is the first widespread wetting rainfall of the wet season, there will likely be an increase in car accidents due to oil separation on the roads. Please allow extra patience, space, and time when driving.”
