San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts and teammate Jose Iglesias were handed down punishments on Friday for an incident following their NLDS Game 3 loss against the Chicago Cubs on Oct. 2.
Iglesias was given a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine for “unprofessional conduct toward Major League Umpires as they exited the playing field.”
MLB Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations Michael Hill announced the news, adding that the former Boston Red Sox All-Star was fined an undisclosed amount as well for his “conduct toward umpires in the dugout” following the contest.”
The incident occurred after Bogaerts was called out on strikes in the ninth inning of the Padres’ season-ending 3-1 defeat.
