A pair of former Red Sox players have been disciplined by Major League Baseball following a controversial conclusion to San Diego’s Wild Card series.

Xander Bogaerts was fined an undisclosed amount for “his conduct toward umpires in the dugout following Game 3,” while his Padres teammate Jose Iglesias was given a one-game suspension for “unprofessional conduct.” Iglesias is set to be a free agent, so his suspension will begin on the first day he’s on an active roster next season.

Trailing 3-1 with nobody out in the ninth inning of a deciding Game 3 against the Cubs, Bogaerts was called out on strikes on a pitch that appeared low.
