WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - ZZ Top, Foreigner and The Oak Ridge Boys are just a few famous musicians to have played in Watertown. But now, the Disabled Persons Action Organization will cut the concerts.
“After doing concerts for 51 years, we have decided to pivot from doing concerts due to the escalating costs of doing concerts,” said Tricia Swartz, executive director of the DPAO Foundation.
She says getting musical acts can cost 4 times as much as it did 15 years ago, and competition is tough with Syracuse and Saratoga.
“It was a difficult decision. Joe Rich started the concert business 51 years ago, and it was an incredible journey. He brought in huge entertainment year after year, but after Covid, it turned into a different industry,” said Swartz.
