SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -A new downtown city project is adding both color and safety to the streets of Sioux Falls.

The Intersections Project transformed the crosswalk at 11th Street and Phillips Avenue into a vibrant piece of public art designed by local artist Cam Abbas.

The artwork was made of a durable thermoplastic material, intended to withstand changing weather conditions and heavy traffic year-round.

City officials said the goal of the project was to push vehicles farther back from the pedestrian walkway, improving visibility and safety at one of downtown’s busiest crossings.
