WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — In a major move to reshape public education funding and governance, leaders from Williamsburg, James City County, and the Williamsburg-James City County School Board have unanimously approved a new joint funding contract for the WJCC school system.

The agreement was reached during a special tri-board meeting held Friday, October 10th.

After months of discussion, Williamsburg and James City County leaders say they have come to an equitable agreement that aims to best serve students, their families, educators and all staff members in the school division.

City officials say the new joint contract ensures more investment from the localities, immediately establishing operational contributions for fiscal year 2027.
