BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Chevron, the major oil and gas corporation, announced the layoff of an additional 75 employees in October, after already having let go of around 50 employees in July.
In a WARN letter sent to the Kern County Board of Supervisors in May, Chevron said it will lay off around 50 of its employees at the San Joaquin Valley Business Unit starting in July.
Back then, Chevron said in the letter it is expecting further layoffs but the company couldn’t provide an estimate.
In a new letter, Chevron said it is anticipating layoffs of around 75 additional employees at the San Joaquin Valley headquarters and Kern River fields, both located in Bakersfield.
According to Chevron, the layoffs will be permanent and the affected employees will receive severance pay, medical co
