MINNEAPOLIS — Drivers in the Twin Cities are facing another round of major road closures this weekend, with two key highways set to shut down as construction season nears its end.

Starting Friday at 10 p.m., Interstate 494 in Bloomington will be completely closed in both directions between Interstate 35W and Highway 77. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) expects the interstate to reopen by Saturday morning, part of an ongoing pavement and bridge improvement project on I-494.

In St. Paul, a portion of Interstate 94 will close for the entire weekend to allow crews to deconstruct the John Ireland Boulevard bridge near the State Capitol.
