BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham is the first high school in the country to display the official Heisman Trophy logo on its field, honoring 1971 Heisman winner Pat Sullivan.

"Today is an exciting day for the Diocese of Birmingham and for John Carroll Catholic High School...the visible sign of what happens when vision, faith, stewardship and dedication come together for the glory of God and the good of his people," Bishop Steven Raica said.

Two years ago, the John Carroll Excellence in Athletics Foundation began a mission to provide world-class facilities and programming that reinforce the school's Catholic identity and pursuit of excellence in all facets of student life.
