DREW — Jamar Phillips, 36, was arrested in Laurel on Oct. 10, 2025, following a fugitive investigation conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Phillips was wanted by the Drew Police Department in Sunflower County on two counts of molesting (touching a child for lustful purposes).

In June 2025, the Drew Police Department launched a criminal investigation after being alerted by a local hospital that a 7-year-old child had been sexually assaulted. On Sept. 15, felony warrants were issued for Phillips in connection with the case.

On Oct. 10, Deputy U.S. Marshals with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked Phillips to a residence in the 600 block of Harvest Quarter in Laurel. Authorities said Phillips refused to exit the home when ordered
