It has been 21 years since a Big Ten team went in to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, and beat the host Ducks.
That team? The Indiana Hoosiers, who in 2004 under coach Gerry DiNardo forced seven (yes, seven) turnovers in a game at Oregon, led by 23 at halftime and went on to win 30-24 against a Ducks team that finished 5-6. IU would post a 3-8 mark that season and DiNardo was fired at the end of the year.
Circumstances have changed immensely for both teams in the two decades since. Oregon has matured from a new-money interloper in college football’s elite power structure to a perennial national championship contender and one of the handful of most consistently excellent programs in the country.
