WASHINGTON — Tempo USA has recalled about 46,660 Ambiano brand electric pressure cookers sold at ALDI stores nationwide due to a serious defect that has caused multiple severe burn injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The pressure cookers can be opened before steam pressure is fully released, causing scalding hot contents to suddenly spray out. The company has received 11 incident reports, including eight cases of severe burns to consumers.

The recall affects all Ambiano electric pressure cookers with model numbers 93550 (KY-318B), 96775 (KY-318A) and 98527 (6L-PC). The devices, which come in six-quart and eight-quart capacities, were sold at ALDI locations across the country from January 2016 through December 2019 for about $40. ALDI has more than 2,500 re
