JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A major multi-agency operation lead by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office resulted in more than 86 arrests, along with the seizure of drugs, guns, and cash.

Operation Guardian Sweep brought together local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the Birmingham Police Department, and the Bessemer Police Department. The goal: crack down on violent crime and repeat offenders.

“I want to be clear to all of those who are still committing heinous acts of violence. The FBI and our partners will track you down. We will find you. And we will hold every single person accountable to protect the American public,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge David Fitzgibbons.

During the operation, investigators seized 59 grams of fentanyl, 142 gram
