BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Have you ever had a bird fly right into your office window? It’s much more common than you might think.
It’s sad, but also unsanitary to have a dead bird laying around. That’s why one non-profit is working to prevent that from happening.
“Collisions with windows is the second leading cause of bird mortality,” said Dr. Lianne Koczur,
Research shows an estimated 1.28 billion birds die by hitting windows every year in the U.S.
“It’s a huge conservation threat for birds,” Koczur said.
A number that staff with Alabama Audubon is working to change.
Project Safe Flight , led by Dr. Koczur, collects data on bird-window strikes.
“Where window collisions are happening, like where some of the hot spots are, so we can work with those building owners and managers
