MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The City of West Memphis has announced that it will buy a mobile command center after receiving a $1 million grant.
The City reports that the command center will be used citywide to support the police, fire, and utilities departments. According to the City, the vehicle will allow first responders to "manage major incidents and emergencies directly on-site with advanced technology and communications tools."
The mobile command center will reportedly include features such as a built-in conference room, a two-position dispatch center, an emergency lighting and siren system, and "advanced communications equipment."
The City of West Memphis credits Mayor Marco McClendon and Office of Emergency Management Director DeWayne Rose for securing the grant.
