TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - As we prepare to see quite a bit of rain throughout southern Arizona and a flood watch in place over the weekend, there are certain areas that could be impacted more than others.
That is why Pima County’s Regional Flood Control District sends letters to property owners who have experienced more than two losses in a 10-year period due to flooding, have similar flood risks, or are protected from floods by levees and dams.
According to FEMA’s flood insurance program’s community rating system, Pima County’s efforts, which include infrastructure, have resulted in a Class 2 rating. That means residents in unincorporated Pima County can get a flood insurance premium discount of up to 40%.
