MEXIA, Texas — Two of Central Texas' biggest rivals met again on Oct. 10, Mexia and Groesbeck.

The game marked the 83rd time the two teams had faced one another in what is now known as the Battle of the River Rivalry, a feud that dates back to 1901..

The Mexia Blackcats and Groesbeck Goats were once again fighting to take home the much-coveted Navasota River sign , a prize the two teams have been dueling for and exchanging since 2011.

The Goats went into the game with a 2-3 record, looking to win back the sign Mexia took from them last season. The Blackcats went in with 0-5 record, looking to secure their first win of the season.

The Blackcats found themselves deep in Goat territory on their first drive, with quarterback Jadarrius Davis connecting with Kelan Collins in the endzone. A
