CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library officials provided a sneak peak Friday into the new main library.
Construction is progressing on the new site on North Tryon Street in uptown. Once open, officials say it will take over as the main location for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library.
“We’ve been designing it intentionally to last us for 50 years,” a library spokesperson said. “The idea being that we can do unique spaces while have flexibility to prepare us for the future.”
The facility will be free and accessible to anyone, including visitors.
The library is expected to open in 2026.
