LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As Marion County Sheriff deputies put handcuffs on Ronald Exantus in Central Florida, he asked, "What's going on?"
"Looking into his case, we had realized that he failed to do one thing: register here as a felon," Lt. Paul Bloom said.
Exantus arrived in Marion Oaks for supervised release on October 6. He walked out of prison early, seven years into a 20-year sentence for stabbing the sisters and father of the six-year-old boy he admittedly killed. Now, Exantus faces extradition back to Kentucky.
In court, Exantus admitted to killing 6-year-old Logan Tipton in Versailles, Kentucky, in late 2015. A jury later found him not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.
Florida Corrections told Exantus he needed to register with the sheriff's office.
