Growing up on a small farm in western Kentucky, we drank plenty of milk in our home.
It was our primary beverage at meals and also with snacks. Sure, we drank plenty of sweet tea, especially in hot weather, but we did not want to hurt our cows' feelings.
We not only drank lots of milk, we also consumed plenty of butter. Mother had a fancy electric churn and she was not afraid to use it. We had lots of butter for cornbread, grits, oatmeal, sweet rolls and anything else we could spread it on or melt it in.
