The No. 2 Wall Hawks endured a slow start to kick off district play, surrendering a Merkel Badgers touchdown just under five minutes into the game. On the Hawks' next drive, momentum temporarily swung in the Badgers' favor as the Hawks turned the ball over on downs near midfield. After forcing a Badgers punt, the Hawks eventually responded.
Quarterback Landon York found Reid Robertson in stride on a slant route over the middle, who took it the distance for a 50+ yard touchdown to even the game at seven apiece. In the second quarter, the Hawks took the lead on a one-yard touchdown pass from York to Dylan Sellers. Wall took a 14-7 lead and never looked back
