AUSTINTOWN — A woman suffered serious injuries after a Friday morning fire, the township’s fire chief said.

Chief David Schertzer said his department responded to multiple reports of smoke and flames at 3887 Cannon Road about 9:40 a.m. He said an elderly, disabled woman was quickly removed through her bedroom window and taken immediately by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and appeared to be in critical condition.

“There was no fire damage to the bedroom, so it was all from smoke inhalation,” he said.

The Mahoning County Auditor’s website shows the 952-square foot single-story home is owned by Evelyn L. Kramer.
