Northern Guilford used its defense to keep Northeast Guilford in check, making two key stops in the red zone late in the game to preserve a 14-8 victory to hang onto its share of first in the TAAC Six 5A/6A Conference.

The Nighthawks forced five turnovers, including two of its four interceptions inside their 10-yard line on the Rams’ final two possessions.

“I thought our defense played phenomenally well tonight,” said Northern coach Erik Westberg, whose defense held the Rams to a season-low point total and 20 points below their average.
