A Cedar City man who admitted to unlawful sexual conduct with a local teenager was led from the courtroom in handcuffs Thursday after a judge ordered him to serve one year in jail.
Justin Blake Driffill, 27, pleaded guilty in July to unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old, a third-degree felony.
The case involved 17-year-old Kaylee Dutton. Driffill had known her since she was a child and had hired her to work for him months before her death earlier this year, court records stated.
During Thursday’s hearing, 5th District Court Judge Matthew Bell imposed a one-year jail sentence, going beyond probation officials’ recommendation of up to 120 days. Bell called Driffill’s behavior deliberate, repeated and deeply damaging.
“This was a crime of invitation and anticipation, not a
