For some rabid skiers and snowboarders — like Sean and Abby Phillips of Park City, who admitted on Instagram that they may be “living in delusion” for seeking out the 8 inches of powder at Alta Ski Area last weekend — the 2025-26 season has already begun. For others, who ski year-round, it never ended.

Then, there’s the rest of us.

If you’re among those who are eagerly anticipating the start of ski season, but not so much that you’re willing to hike a mountain and risk pockmarking your skis for it, good news awaits. Lifts will begin hauling skiers at some Utah resorts within a month’s time, so long as nature cooperates. And within two months, more than half of the state’s ski areas should be open for business.
