School nurses care for thousands of students across Delaware... but, who's caring for school nurses?

Friday, for the third time, the University of Delaware School of Nursing hosted a day of professional development and support for Delaware's school nurses. Including in-person and online, more than 300 school nurses participated.

The focus this years was on the student mental health crisis, which is drawing more and more recognition after the COVID-19 pandemic.

'It's an epidemic throughout the state, but really nationwide," UD School of Nursing Assistant Professor Dr. Lauren Covington said.

Focal points included trauma-informed care, caring for students with autism, and the future of school nursing.
