GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks Fire Department personnel extinguished a fire at an apartment on Friday evening, Oct. 10.

The call came shortly before 7 p.m. for a fire at 502 N. 48th St., unit 102. When GFFD personnel arrived, they found moderate smoke and smoldering materials on a stove, according to a release from the department.

"Crews quickly cooled the affected materials and removed all remaining hazards from the unit," the release said.

GFFD responded with five engines, a ladder truck, a command vehicle and 19 personnel overall. Altru Ambulance and the Grand Forks Police Department assisted.

"The Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind residents to keep all combustible materials away from heat sources and never leave cooking unattended," the media release said.
