A new suspect has been arrested following a weapons incident on the city’s south side late last month.

The Thunder Bay Police Service first responded to the area of May Street and Bethune Street on Sept. 25, just after 1 a.m. for reports of a weapons incident. A resident in the area reported hearing four gunshots early that morning.

A suspect was initially arrested that same day and charged with attempted murder as well as several firearms related offences. Following further investigation, the Thunder Bay Police Service determined the suspect was not in fact the shooter and the charges were withdrawn the next day.

The Thunder Bay Police Service announced on Friday that a new suspect, 48-year-old Shawn Henderson, of Thunder Bay, has been arrested in connection to the incident.
