Tyson Beukeboom and the Canadian women's rugby squad met Australia in the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup Sept.13, winning 46-5. Canada had made the elimination round after going undefeated in pool play.
Team Canada went on to meet No. 2 ranked New Zealand Black Ferns in the semi-finals at Ashton Gate in Bristol on Sept. 19. The semi-final marked Beukeboom's 83rd career cap, extending her lead as Canada's all-time most capped rugby player.
Canada dominated the first half against New Zealand and held on in the second half to beat the six-time, and current reigning World Champions 34-19. It was New Zealand's first world cup match loss since 2014. With the win, Canada advanced to the finals on Sept. 27 against host England at Twickenham Stadium in London.
