A driver was seriously injured after crashing into the rear of a bus that was stopped in the Rivière-des-Prairies area of Montreal.
The collision occurred on Saturday, around 2 a.m., while the individual was driving southbound on Rodolphe-Forget Blvd., near Henri-Bourassa Blvd.
The force of the impact caused his vehicle to catch fire.
“The bus driver helped him out of the vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital, where his injury was considered serious,” said Constable Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).
The injured man was alone in the vehicle and the cause of the collision remains unknown at this time.
“Is it sleep? A distraction? Alcohol? All possibilities are being considered at this time,” said Officer Bergeron.
