PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- If you're looking to add a new furry friend to your family, this weekend may be a good time, as the Oregon Humane Society is temporarily reducing adoption fees by 50% for all animals.

At their Portland and Salem campuses, the shelter says there are more than 200 pets available for adoption.

According to OHS, the promotion is in response to both of their locations being at capacity following a decrease in adoptions, as well as the intake of 55 dogs from a recent neglect case.

“When our shelters are at capacity, our ability to help the community is severely hindered,” said Interim CEO and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Steve Kochis. “If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, now is the perfect time to open your heart and home to an animal in need.”
