The alleged gangrape of a second-year medical student on a private college campus in West Bengal's Durgapur has led to political leaders trading barbs on social media after it invoked similarities to Kolkata's RG Kar rape case of 2024.

The victim's father alleged that one of his daughter's classmates had taken her out of the college campus on the pretext of eating some food.
