CHARLESTON — As parts of the peninsula were submerged by a storm system that brought rain and coastal flooding on Oct. 10, one local diver made the most of things while waiting for the water to recede.

In a photo circulated on social media , diver Jessie Fisher Coleman can be seen donning his wetsuit, flippers, and scuba gear as he went for a swim in the floodwaters on Lockwood Drive near Spring Street.

Coleman works for Port City Diving Company , which specializes in boat hull maintenance and inspections, propeller installation and removal, and search and recovery efforts. He told The Post and Courier that he and his coworker Gavin Green had just finished service four boats at the Safe Harbor Bristol marina when they realized the floodwaters trapped their truck in the parking lot.
