The Buffalo Sabres are battling adversity early.
Centre Josh Norris is set to miss a “significant amount of time” with an upper-body injury, head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters on Wednesday.
Norris, 26, was injured on Thursday night against the New York Rangers.
He was slow to get up after falling to the ice on the neutral zone face-off, eventually made his way to the bench and did not take another shift.
Norris has a history of injuries, including after he was acquired by the Sabres from the Ottawa Senators last year in a deal that sent Dylan Cozens the other way.
Ruff previously said the injury is a new one, but similar to a torn oblique that led to Norris missing the final month of last season.
