OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day in 2005, folks at the Holland Performing Arts Center were preparing for its grand opening.
Architects at the 2,000 seat hall at 13th and Douglas was designed to bring the audience closer to the music.
Omaha Performing Arts says the idea for the Holland came about after a facilities study at the Orpheum in 1997.
The funding came together in 2001, and Omaha-based Kiewit Construction broke ground in 2003.
The Holland is named for Dick and Mary Holland, who left a lead gift for the space.
The first performance: a special concert hosted by actor Danny Glover.
