ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
A man accused of hitting and killing a pediatric emergency nurse was in court Friday.
On Thursday, Albuquerque police charged 42-year-old Brian Boyce with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in great bodily harm. Police said he will face more charges.
"He stayed at the accident scene; he was transported by an ambulance from the accident scene. I don't think that's leaving the scene of an accident," said Boyce's lawyer during his court appearance.
According to APD, around 6:45 Thursday night, Boyce hit 28-year-old Alec Montoya while speeding down Lomas and Standford. Police said Boyce was taken to the hospital and then walked away, which is why he's charged with leaving the scene. A judge released Boyce on his own recognizance.
UNM Hospital said the victim
