RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A new science center is now open at the University of Nevada’s Main Station Field Lab. The College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources celebrated new center at a grand opening event Friday.

The facility includes state-of-the-art classrooms and is expected to become a cornerstone of the college’s teaching, research, and outreach.

College dean Bill Payne says before this project, even some basic tasks could not be handled on site.

“If you need to take a, let’s say a blood sample, you wouldn’t have facilities to do analysis out here you’d have to take it on campus,” said Payne. ”And even something a basic as restrooms we didn’t have for students out here. They had to use the restroom, they had to go to Wolf Pack Meats.“
