Five members of a family allegedly died by suicide by consuming poison in Rajasthan’s Sikar, police said.

According to the police, Kiran and her four children were found dead in their flat at Aniruddha Residency on Palwas Road. Ten packets of poison were allegedly found at the scene, eight of which had been used.

Sikar SP Praveen Nayak said Kiran was estranged from her husband and lived with her children — the oldest aged 22 and the youngest 8. The bodies were highly decomposed, leading police to believe they may have died several days ago.

“The smell of rotting flesh alerted the neighbours. They called the police. We had to break open the flat to enter. However, an FSL report will make things clear. Since she [Kiran] lived away from her family, no one was aware about this,” said Nayak.
