The Edmonton Oilers are turning to Calvin Pickard against the Vancouver Canucks.
At the team’s morning skate Saturday, Pickard was occupying the home net after he was the first goalie off the ice for practice on Friday.
The decision to start Pickard comes after Stuart Skinner manned the crease in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames, which included a few shaky goals allowed.
“I just had to make a quicker decision,” said Skinner after the game. “The game happens fast down there, and it’s just kind of a miscommunication, and I was slow to react to.
“If that doesn’t go in, we win the game. Two points. But you know what? The way that we responded as a team was fantastic.”
