Thousands of people attended the N.C. A&T State University Homecoming Parade Saturday, enduring cool temperatures and showing pride in the 134-year-old institution in Greensboro.
University officials, students and alumni describe the parade as being part of the school’s Greatest Homecoming on Earth events. Many parade participants and spectators chanted “Aggie Pride” during the parade.
The spectators, members of the school’s band, the N.C. A&T Blue and Gold Marching Machine, and other parade participants started gathering at the parade’s starting point, the intersection of East Lindsay Street and Morrow Boulevard, before sunrise Saturday.
Michael Pettaway of Greensboro, a 1975 A&T graduate, said that the parade is a huge benefit to the city of Greensboro.
