COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The 35th Annual Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink 10K and 5K took place Saturday morning.

It’s not just about raising awareness, but also celebrating strength, hope, and community.

For more than three decades, thousands of people have contributed to raising over $12.6 million to fund the latest digital mammography technology and enhance programs and services for breast cancer patients and their families.

WIS talked with people who took part in the event and asked what made it important for them to join.

“Breast cancer runs in my family,” said an attendee. “My mother had a double mastectomy. My aunt had a mastectomy as well. It’s just something that I wanted to advocate.”
