WISHEK, N.D. (KFYR) — Residents of Wishek are celebrating the 100th annual Sauerkraut Day this weekend.
They’ve got three days of events planned, including a photo display that honors a hundred Wishek residents.
The ’100 Years’ photo exhibit contains a hundred black and white photographs of people who call Wishek home. Four local photographers took the portraits. They were first displayed in 2023 when the city celebrated its 125th birthday.
Sandy Fiechtner got the idea when she saw a similar exhibit in a museum in Berlin. She immediately knew she had to do a version for her hometown, even though she’s hasn’t lived there since she was in high school.
“I have not lived in Wishek since I was 17 and I went off to NDSU,” Fiechtner said. “Somehow, I became an accidental New Yorker. I live 1,
