A 19-year-old man was shot and killed outside of a birthday party in suburban Ingleside Friday night.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the home in the 35700 block of North Wilson Road at approximately 11:15 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found the 19-year-old Round Lake resident lying in the driveway. Life-saving measures were attempted, but the teen was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An investigation revealed the teen had been standing outside the party with a group when another group engaged them in a verbal altercation.

That group then left the birthday party, but as they were driving away one of the individuals opened fire, striking the teen.
