BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - For the first time, Bismarck residents can have their leaves collected for free.

The city will now gather leaves on the regular scheduled garbage day, in an additional truck. This will allow them to efficiently bring leaves from households to compost.

“This was more of a service to provide for the residents to pick them up curbside, plus it also kept them out of the landfill, so it’s a win-win,” said Steve Salwei, the Public Works Director for Service Operations for the City of Bismarck.

The City of Bismarck will provide this service the weeks of October 20-23 and October 27-30. They must be stored in garbage containers or compostable paper bags.
