Imagine paying your child’s school fees with a simple UPI scan instead of standing in long queues. That’s exactly what the Government of India now wants schools across the country to make possible.

In a first, the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education has written to all States, Union Territories, and education bodies like NCERT, CBSE, KVS, and NVS, urging them to adopt digital payment systems — especially Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The idea is to strengthen the ease of schooling by modernising how schools handle money.

The move is part of the government’s broader 'Ease of Living' initiative, which is about using technology to make everyday systems simpler and more transparent. And with India’s massive UPI boom, the timing couldn’t be better.
