A student was found with a BB gun during Friday's football game at Marshall High School.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Saturday, Marshall Public School's Superintendent Caleb Petet said school administrators and law enforcement were informed by several students about a possible weapon on campus during the game. Within minutes, the student was identified and searched. Parents were also notified and the situation was resolved, according to the statement.

There was no active threat to students or spectators, according to Petet.

"It was determined that a student was in possession of CO2 BB gun that looked very realistic, but it was not a lethal firearm," Petet said.

The student reportedly brought the BB gun to "be funny."
